Food Safety, Allergens, HACCP & hygiene audits in Essex and Hertfordshire

An appropriate qualification in Food Safety is a standard legal requirement for all who work in a food business, whether manufacturing, retail or catering. All food businesses are also required by law to have the correct safe practices and procedures in place and management systems to support their operation such as “Safer Food, Better Business” or for more complex operations a bespoke HACCP plan.

At Jill Taylor Consulting we specialise in the provision of quality training leading to assessment and qualification in subjects such as Food Safety, Food Allergens and HACCP at appropriate levels and for all sectors of the food industry.

In addition, we also support our clients with training and qualification in Health & Safety, Risk Assessment, Manual Handling and COSHH and First Aid. This may be offered “in-house” or through partner businesses who meet our stringent quality requirements.

Training programmes typically range from half a day to three days, and can be bespoke and provided on-site at a client’s workplace, or by enrolment on one of our courses.

We also offer food safety audits and assessments, including consultation and advice on which practices and procedures are appropriate for your business and how to implement the relevant food safety management systems to ensure you achieve the best inspection reports and Food Safety Ratings.

It is a legal requirement for all employers to ensure that work practices and premises comply with current Health and Safety legislation and to provide appropriate information, instruction, training and supervision to ensure the health and safety of their employees. In certain situations, health and safety training is particularly important, e.g. when people start work, on exposure to new or increased risks and where existing skills may have become rusty or need updating.


Keeping customers safe from food allergens!

It is estimated that 21 million people in the UK suffer from an allergy, up to 8% of children & 2% of adults are diagnosed with a food allergy. Food businesses must ensure that the food they prepare, serve or sell is safe to eat: food allergens are a food hazard therefore they must be managed accordingly. Under the new Food Information Regs 2014, food business operators have to provide complete and correct food allergen information to customers and all staff need to be aware of the issues associated with food allergies and intolerances. It is no longer legally compliant to say "all our foods may contain".
